Our training

For who ? candidates with a degree (university or non-university) in physiotherapy or occupational therapy.
Content: the training includes 6 days of training, a 100-hour practical training, an written work and an exam.
Theoretical content: 6 modules which will address successively: assessment of impairments, activities and social participation (3 levels of the ICF). The induced stress (CIMT – intensive one-hand rehabilitation) and the various adapted forms of this therapy are approached and put into perspective in a theoretical and practical context. From this first therapeutic modality, the key concepts of structured motor learning are highlighted. Their application to bimanual modalities (Hand and arm bimanual intensive therapy – HABIT) is then discussed. Finally, the application of structured motor learning theories is demonstrated in a context of coordination between upper and lower limbs (HABIT-ILE), the possibility to integrate new technologies (virtual reality, for example) is highlighted. Due to its major implication in the evolution of treatments, functional strength training is also discussed.

The compulsory 100-hour practical internship can take place in Brussels or Evrehailles, under the responsibility of the Intensive Rehabilitation Foundation, in the Netherlands, as part of the intensive rehabilitation internships offered by the Adelante Expertise Center, in the United States, in the “Center for cerebral palsy research” at Columbia University. At the end of the training the therapists will reach the level of interventionist (sufficient knowledge of intensive rehabilitation to practice with one patient / to introduce it into their professional practice).

Assessment: on the basis of a written exam, the internship (practical + internship report) and
personal work based on a conference

For who ? candidates with a diploma (university or non-university) in physiotherapy or occupational therapy, who have successfully completed the university certificate in functional and intensive neurorehabilitation with a distinction (>14/20).

Content: the training includes 3 days of training, a minimum of two practical courses of 100 hours, in situ practice, several remote works and an exam.

Theoretical content in 5 modules which will successively address:
Module 1: analysis of functional objectives, the needs to achieve them and the starting point;
Module 2: gradation;
Module 3: possible strategies and time to start the functional goal;
Module 4: internship management (crises, team, meetings, etc.) and group activities
Module 5: practice of analysis, definition of progression for a child

The mandatory 100-hour practical internships take place under the responsibility of the Intensive Rehabilitation Foundation, with a recognized trainer.

At the end of the training, the therapists will reach the level of supervisor (sufficient knowledge of HABIT-ILE to organize a camp and guarantee the quality of care provided). The supervisor diploma is necessary for a camp to be labeled & “HABIT-ILE”.

Dates of the 3 theoretical days: from March XX to XX, 2021.

Assessment: on the basis of a written exam, internships and personal work.

Entry requirements:
– Diploma in physiotherapy or occupational therapy,
– Completion of the first level of training (UCLouvain University Certificate, or training via the Institut Motricité Cérébrale), with a mark >=16/20.

For who ? Team of therapists from an institution

Content: the training includes 2 days of training

Theoretical content: 4 modules which will address successively:
Module 1: operation and use of REAtouch
Module 2: principles of structured motor learning / intensive rehabilitation
Module 3: HABIT-ILE with the REAtouch
Module 4: assessments with the REAtouch

At the end of the training, therapists will be able to introduce the basic concepts of intensive and functional rehabilitation through the use of virtual rehabilitation devices (e.g. REAtouch) and implement it in practice with a patient.
